International Students from the School of International Education Visit the China National Silk Museum

To deepen the study and implementation of Xi Jinping theme education on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, strengthen cultural confidence, promote cultural exchanges, and spread China's voice by telling its stories well, the School of International Education at Zhejiang Polytechnic University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (ZUME) organized an educational activity for international students at the China National Silk Museum on July 23rd.

The China National Silk Museum is a national first-class museum and the world's largest silk museum, located at the foot of Yuhuang Mountain, by the West Lake in Hangzhou. The museum is divided into four exhibition halls: the Silk Road Hall, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall, the Conservation and Display Hall, and the Fashion Hall. The Silk Road Hall focuses on traditional silk and the "Silk Road"; the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall showcases skills such as sericulture, printing, dyeing, and embroidery; the Conservation and Display Hall mainly exhibits ancient textiles and related cultural relics that have been appraised and restored; and the Fashion Hall displays a large number of Chinese and Western fashion garments. In particular, the special exhibition "Dunhuang on the Silk Road" has aroused great interest among international students. The Silk Road is an important link connecting China with the world, and silk culture represents thousands of years of inheritance and depth of Chinese civilization. The spirit of the Silk Road is a precious heritage that shines brightly in the history of human civilization.

At the museum, advanced digital media technology allowed international students to experience the historical weight and timeliness of cultural relics, as well as the beauty of the integration of traditional culture and modern technology. With bilingual Chinese and English introductions, the students carefully admired each exhibit and read the stories behind them, showing a strong interest in Chinese culture and praising the ancient Chinese craftsmen.

Civilizations become more colorful through exchanges and richer through mutual learning. Through this activity, the international students have gained a deeper appreciation of China's excellent traditional culture. Against the backdrop of the Belt and Road Initiative, they will embrace an international perspective and a sense of responsibility in the new era, promote the spirit of the Silk Road, convey China's voice, and better serve the construction of the Belt and Road.
